I just happened upon this place and decided to get the baklava to go. He said to me that this was the best baklava in the city. I thought this was just boasting, but wow this guy has a gift for understatement. It's good!
Anyway, I went back the next day for breakfast -- spinach pie, cappuccino with chocolate on the top, some fresh orange juice -- and, of course, more baklava to go.
Also enjoyable were the chirpy and upbeat customers who came through while I was eating. Not crowded and good food! -

We asked for the menu, the response was; "this is our menu" and we were directed to the counter with a smile.
It's a good attitude, when you make something fresh it's not the words but the look of something that makes you determine whether it's appetising and seeing for yourself what the quality is.
This is a wonderful vibrant café with a glass counter running down one side packed with yummy foods, bright and rich colours and plates of freshly made salads, baked aubergines, vegetables, lasagnes and by the counter a separate for cakes, delicious looking ones at that. Cakes and pastries sit in the window, sandwiches by the till, and olives in large bowls by the door.
Opposite the counter is a fridge full of the fresh vegetables they use, at the back tables where you can sit and a piano. Often people sit there with wine playing backgammon.
The vibe is upbeat and eclectic.
You can see the Greek passion for food come out here, it's a feast of smells and tastes. Fresh coffee, juice and extremely friendly staff.
They're a very friendly bunch normally, however on my last visit my order was delayed, so when I paid they gave me a slice of semolina cake to say sorry. Now usually they're very responsive and don't mess the order up, but it's great to see that when something does go wrong (and it was only delayed slightly and I didn't complain), they genuinely want to fix it. That's amazing customer service!
It's not the cheapest, but the food here is extremely well made and it's worth the treat every now and then.
I genuinely love this place, so I think it's worth every penny. I would recommend everything. Haven't had a bad thing yet. -

Great shop for Greek comfort foods and pastries, both eat in and takeaway. With a well though out verity of perishable and non perishable imported goods to buy.

Menoo is a new deli on Kensington Church Street, which has been open for 2 months. It lists 'eclectic foods' on its sign and although it's the cake display which probably catches the eye in the shop window, there is a range of other goods inside
The owners are Greek, so some of the selection of goods reflects the southern Mediterranean heritage like the choice of cheese, the very interesting spice selections and the spinach & feta rolls.
There is a small area to sit down where you can have some of the snacks or more substantial dishes available at the counter. However, be prepared for people browsing the shelves of goods around you.
I enjoyed my browse here, aided by the friendly staff, who let me have a taste of the Greek cheeses. I walked out with some cheese to snack on, a spinach and feta roll to keep me going and a large cup of OJ, which was freshly squeezed on demand. -

Great healthy, fresh, tasty food. The word eclectic set me off, put me off...but no need! It's just good food, from people that know food and just don't like to be bound by geological boarders.
Have shared the specials of the day: lovely moussaka and skinny (i mean lean) lemon chicken with lots of grilled vegetables. Than a grilled vegetable salad on the side and two biiiig ass carrot-ginger juices. (thank you for not being stingy on the ginger ;) Total of £28. Yep, No cheapo luncho, but good. We need to help the greeks!!!
On the way out, I got a really...really good bite of baklava shoved in my face. On the house. Thank you!
See you soon. Yep!
(take out lunch is what My Love does about ones a week here...when he needs to feel healthy and happy)
